I have lived the past few months as a journey. Not sure about its origin. Not sure about the destination. The journey is its own reward. Those days have had an impact on us. It is however too early to say how deep and how lasting.
Some say that it was just a pandemic event. Nothing less nothing more. It already happened many times in our history. A big deal and no big deal. And we will work it out.
Some others say that now is the time for a new world to emerge. And that there will be an after. And proposals, ideas and petitions have multiplied.
I can’t imagine just and simply turning the page. But I can’t see a Big Bang either. I think our duty is to pursue the journey. With the right combination of ambition and humility. With our compass. And to continue to work - and walk - toward common good.
Remember Nelson Mandela the walker par excellence: « I have discovered the secret that after climbing a great hill, one only finds that there are many more hills to climb. I have taken a moment here to rest, to steal a view of the glorious vista that surrounds me, to look back on the distance I have come. But I can only rest for a moment, for with freedom come responsibilities, and I dare not linger, for my long walk is not ended»
